The Recurring Checks I Run After Something Is Live

By Ethan Ha

Shipping is not the finish line. Solo products rot quietly: webhooks stop, a cron never ran, a user hits a 500 you never see.

I don't run a "life OS." I run a short recurring checklist with AI after anything meaningful ships.

Weekly (15 minutes)

Prompt · copy & paste

Here's what changed in [product] this week: [commits / features].

Here's anything weird users did: [notes or "nothing"].

Here's billing / error noise I noticed: [or "quiet"].

Tell me:

1. The highest-risk thing I haven't verified

2. One check I should run manually today

3. Anything that looks fine in staging but usually fails in production for apps like this

After every Stripe or auth change

Use the security checklist and the webhook failure modes guides — don't freestyle.

Monthly

Prompt · copy & paste

Act as a skeptical operator of [product].

Given: [price], [rough user count or "almost none"], [main acquisition channel].

What would you kill, simplify, or measure next if you had one afternoon and no vanity metrics?

What I don't automate yet

Emailing customers as the AI. Refunds without me. Anything that moves money without a human in the loop.

The point of the checklist is visibility, not autopilot.

If you're still pre-launch, start with weekend build prompts instead — this page assumes something is live.

These are the checks I run on live products like Insidr — see it live.
